Dr Danielle Smith
MBBS, DCH, FRACGP
Danielle completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery here in Perth at the University of Western Australia in 1999.
After living her entire life in the mining town of Newman, learning to live and study in the city away from family was an interesting challenge.
Following graduation, Danielle spent several years working at Fremantle Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, gaining as much experience as possible across the wide spectrum of medicine.
She always wanted to be a General Practitioner and underwent her training via the Rural GP Training Stream, working and living in the towns of Manjimup, Northam, and Busselton, involved in all aspects of rural GP life including covering the Medical Clinics, Hospitals, and the Emergency Departments for the towns.
During her GP training, Danielle undertook extra Paediatric experience by obtaining her Diploma in Paediatrics in 2003 and invested in a lot of Women’s Health training over the years.
She completed her Fellowship of General Practice in 2004 and headed back to the city to work for personal reasons, and happily settled down in city based General Practice with all its amenities.
Danielle enjoys the broadness of General Practice, loving the ability to see medicine across the life span, and is particularly interested in:
· Women’s Health
· Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
· Chronic Disease Management including:
- Heart Disease,
- Respiratory Medicine
- Renal Medicine
- Osteoporosis
- Thyroid and Parathyroid Medicine
- Rheumatology
- Diabetes
· All aspects of Preventive Medicine
She is currently working on a Primary Certificate of Immunisation and Vaccination as well as a Professional Diploma in Women’s Health through Bond University.
Although somewhat limited by her own medical problems, she manages to work part-time, thoroughly enjoying all aspects of this rewarding speciality.
Her other interests include reading and doing many forms of craft activities including Diamond Art Painting, examples of which may be seen throughout the Practice as it grows.
